December 30th Ryan and I celebrated our 9th anniversary. I can't believe how quickly the past nine years have gone. Since BYU lost this year I had to plan our anniversary. It wasn't until this year that I realized how we each plan with the other's interest in mind. Ryan would prefer we not spend too much money and well I'd rather be surprised with something unexpected. Let's see if I can remember what we've done over the past nine years.
- Utah won. We weren't actually married yet jut engaged but that was the first year we bet on the game. That year the bet was looser makes dinner. I was living with my friend Susan. I had Ryan over and made Chicken Alfredo.
- BYU won. Ryan surprised me and took me to Jackson Hole after celebrating Christmas at my parent's house. We stayed in a fun hotel. The night of our anniversary we went on a sleigh ride to cabin in the woods and ate a yummy stake dinner.
- BYU won. Ryan took me to the anniversary inn downtown. We went out to eat and and enjoyed being downtown.
- Utah won. I got Ryan our dog Bailey for Christmas that year and I didn't think we could leave her. So I bought our love sack and planned our anniversary staying home.
- Utah won at BYU 3-0. It was one of the coldest games I've ever been to. I can't remember what I planned. Had we known it would be our last anniversary without kids I would have planned something grand. But we didn't know and I'm sure it was something conservative.
- Utah won by a lot. They went undefeated that year and went on the win at the Fiesta bowl. Nathan was 2 1/2 months old. We drove down to AZ with Ryan's family. My aunt Karen watched Nathan while we went to the game. Our anniversary was basically the trip. We didn't actually do anything on our anniversary. Ryan went to the pep rally and I stayed with Nathan.
- Utah won again. I was getting sick of planning but Utah went to the Emerald bowl so once again we went with Ryan's family. Ryan's uncle Jerry was serving as the mission president in San Francisco so we all went to stay with them. Ryan's mom was kind enough to take Nathan back with them while we spent a few extra days in CA. We got to go to a Raider's NY Giants game on New Year's Eve.
- BYU finally won and it was once again Ryan's turn. I don't exactly remember how we decided to go but we decided to go to Maui that year over Christmas and New Years. Ryan took me to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse to celebrate on our anniversary. Ryan's mom once again watched Nathan for us. I'm not sure what we would do without her.
- BYU won for a second time in a row. We stayed downtown at the Marriott overlooking the Galvan center. And yes Ryan's mom kept Nathan over night.
- That brings us to this past year. We all know Utah beat BYU real bad. Utah went on to have an undefeated session and won the Sugar Bowl. I really wanted to go to the Sugar Bowl but that just wasn't to be. With the snow and the cost to get there Ryan said no. So Ryan's mom watched both our kids while we went to dinner and a movie.
