What We've Been Up to

This is Will, Jake and Nathan. These three have spend a lot of time together the past few months. Heather has been so kind to call and have Nathan over many Tuesday and Thursday mornings while I work. They all play so well together. Especially Nathan and Jake. This particular day was colder than what I had dressed Nathan for so he is wearing one of their fire fighter sweatshirts. He loves it and I am going to have a hard time returning it.

Nathan has been counting down the days to Mother's day. We planted peas and carrots a month or so ago but told Nathan we had to wait for Mother's Day before we could plant anything else. Well, after looking at the weather we decided to plant the Saturday before Mother's Day. Ryan got it all tilled and the soak lines all burried. Nathan and I helped do the actual planting. A friend from work had given me five tomato starts that I managed to keep alive for five weeks. We planted three rows of corn, pumpkin, watermelon, cantelope, green onions, butternut squash, speghetti squash, and two kinds of potatoes. We'll have to see how it goes. Each year we learn a little more.
And as a side note I had a wonderful Mother's Day the following day. Ryan had my car detailed and gave me a gift card to JoAnn's. Nathan made me a cute card, with Ryan's help of course. Then I had volunteered to make dinner since we go over to Ryan's parents every other Sunday. I thought it only fitting to give his mom a break. Ryan bought a new BBQ the weekend before so he could do the grilling. I found some fun colorful plates and cups for the occasion. We had marinated chicken grilled on the BBQ, wild rice, costco rolls, fresh pineapple, spinach salad, potato salad and veggies with dip. Ryan's grandparents brought a delicious chocolate cake from Glaus Bakery, (which is funnny because my dad had just mentioned it the previous Friday.) We celebrated Emily and Jason's birthdays with cake and ice cream. We opened presents and had an over all enjoyable evening. It went well, dinner tasted good even to me and I really felt good. I am so grateful for a wonderful mom and mother-in-law. I was glad we were able to see my mom that Thursday and celebrate her birthday as well.
This is Nathan still sleeping. Let me explain. He had gone to bed at 10:00 the night before and then helped us with the garden and finally fell asleep. After a couple hours he woke up enough to get to a sitting position where he promptly fell back asleep. he slept another hour. What a tired little boy.

This is the quilt I am working on for Nathan. I started it last year about this time and had to put it on hold while I got everything ready for girls camp. I decided I better get it finished before we find out what we are having because then I will want to start on a baby quilt but I really need to get this one done. The top is almost done then I can start quilting.

Hi there,I found your blog off of Heathers. Love the quilt! It's so politically correct. I would love to see the finished product.
