It's a Girl!

So we just returned from the hospital where we had our ultrasound done. I think just about everyone I know having a baby this year is having or has had a girl, the exception being baby Carter. Did I miss anyone? My sister-in-law, Lizzy is having a girl and is due a couple weeks after I am so that will be so fun. I really was prepared for either a boy or a girl and would have been very excited either way. I am so glad to know and now to be able to plan. I am such a planner and can hardly wait to start her quilt and her room. We haven't talked about names yet. Ryan likes to wait until we know what we are having before talking. His thought being why torture ourselves when half the names we discuss won't even be needed. I can see his thought process and I am fine with it. I on the other hand have a list of girl names I like. I didn't even write any boy names down, although I did have some ideas there as well. We thought we'd wait until Nathan wasn't in the car to talk though. At any rate we are very excited. It all seems more real once you get to see the ultrasound.

Nathan's Pool Party

Nathan has literally been waiting months for a "pool party" I have caught him stark naked outside in our backyard twice having a "pool party" and it has been when the temperature outside was in the 50's. So yesterday we had a wonderfully warm day and I told Nathan that yes we could get the "pool" out. So here are some of the pictures I took.

What We've Been Up to

This is Will, Jake and Nathan. These three have spend a lot of time together the past few months. Heather has been so kind to call and have Nathan over many Tuesday and Thursday mornings while I work. They all play so well together. Especially Nathan and Jake. This particular day was colder than what I had dressed Nathan for so he is wearing one of their fire fighter sweatshirts. He loves it and I am going to have a hard time returning it.

Nathan has been counting down the days to Mother's day. We planted peas and carrots a month or so ago but told Nathan we had to wait for Mother's Day before we could plant anything else. Well, after looking at the weather we decided to plant the Saturday before Mother's Day. Ryan got it all tilled and the soak lines all burried. Nathan and I helped do the actual planting. A friend from work had given me five tomato starts that I managed to keep alive for five weeks. We planted three rows of corn, pumpkin, watermelon, cantelope, green onions, butternut squash, speghetti squash, and two kinds of potatoes. We'll have to see how it goes. Each year we learn a little more.
And as a side note I had a wonderful Mother's Day the following day. Ryan had my car detailed and gave me a gift card to JoAnn's. Nathan made me a cute card, with Ryan's help of course. Then I had volunteered to make dinner since we go over to Ryan's parents every other Sunday. I thought it only fitting to give his mom a break. Ryan bought a new BBQ the weekend before so he could do the grilling. I found some fun colorful plates and cups for the occasion. We had marinated chicken grilled on the BBQ, wild rice, costco rolls, fresh pineapple, spinach salad, potato salad and veggies with dip. Ryan's grandparents brought a delicious chocolate cake from Glaus Bakery, (which is funnny because my dad had just mentioned it the previous Friday.) We celebrated Emily and Jason's birthdays with cake and ice cream. We opened presents and had an over all enjoyable evening. It went well, dinner tasted good even to me and I really felt good. I am so grateful for a wonderful mom and mother-in-law. I was glad we were able to see my mom that Thursday and celebrate her birthday as well.
This is Nathan still sleeping. Let me explain. He had gone to bed at 10:00 the night before and then helped us with the garden and finally fell asleep. After a couple hours he woke up enough to get to a sitting position where he promptly fell back asleep. he slept another hour. What a tired little boy.

This is the quilt I am working on for Nathan. I started it last year about this time and had to put it on hold while I got everything ready for girls camp. I decided I better get it finished before we find out what we are having because then I will want to start on a baby quilt but I really need to get this one done. The top is almost done then I can start quilting.

16 Weeks and still pewking

Wow am I tired of this. I keep thinking I'm about done and then it comes again. I was done at this point when I was pregnant with Nathan. And I hope this ends soon. I don't have any pictures to post. I haven't been taking pictures very much lately. I'll have to work on that. Once you read this you'll probably be glad I didn't take any pictures. Don't keep reading if you are feeling queasy.

Sunday I wasn't feeling all that well but hadn't thrown up. After dinner at Ryan's parents I was resting on the couch when I began throwing up. I was determined not to get any on the carpet so I kept my mouth closed and ran for the bathroom. I made it to the bathroom but that's about it. I didn't even have time to close the door before I projected vomit all over the vanity. With a brief pause I was able to close the door and mutter an "I'm sorry" before basically filling the sink. Up to this point in my pregnancy I have been either at home or work for this kind of event and have always have enough warning to make it to the toilet. Not this time. After the sink was full I realized I'd have to try to get the toilet lid up and there in a hurry. I did with only a small trail. At this point there was pewk everywhere. I mean the mirror was covered from top to bottom the towel on the side of the sink was covered the toilet was covered two wall had traces and the floor unfortunately did not escape either. I had pewk on my arm in my hair on my shirt and pants. When I finished I didn't even know where to begin to clean this mess.

Thankfully the laundry room is attached to this particular bathroom and I found a rag. I don't know how long it took. When all evidence was gone I could still smell it but wasn't sure if it was just what was still in my nose or the bathroom. I was sure everyone in the kitchen had heard. But I guess Ryan had been very alert and diverted everyone's attention. No one had any idea I had even been in the bathroom. I asked his mom for some Windex. She seemed confused and thought Nathan had made a mess. I cleaned the mirror and then she kindly told me to go rest and finished with Lysol. I only wish I had a picture to post to show just how bad it was.

After throwing up a few more times, much less eventful (there wasn't anything left in my stomach) we headed home and I headed to the pharmacy. I filled my emergency prescription. I was reluctant to do so because I had been told how expensive this medicine was but the alternative was to head for an IV. The Insta care was closed so we'd have to go to the ER. More time and money. So I went to the 24 hour pharmacy in Draper and to my relief found my insurance paid over $100 of the cost and 15 pills only cost me $33. I took one and went to bed with thoughts of not going to work in the morning.

I didn't feel much better the next morning and after throwing up a couple times took another pill. I decided to go to work anyway because Nathan was so excited to go over to Grandma's and I figured if I was going to drive him there I might as well go to work. I made it the rest of the day without throwing up and I only had to take two more pills. But yesterday and today are back to being pretty good. I don't mean to complain. I am so glad to be pregnant and I know it is worth it.

The Pirates

Nathan is absolutely obsessed with baseball. He has been for about a year. We signed him up for t-ball this year with some of his friends in our ward. We have had practice on Wednesday's but he just had his first game last Saturday. It was so very fun to watch. After it was done Ryan kept commenting how much work it was trying to get the boys to run to the next base. He was in charge of second base and the boys were so cute. I think Nathan had it down pretty well, but it was fun to watch the boys. It is very non competative at this age. Each boy gets a turn at bat and gets to run one base at a time to get them used to baseball. Then they switch and the outfield gets to hit. Nathan loves it. Nathan got all kinds of baseball equipment for his last birthday. Well, we've already updated his bat, balls, and tee. I think this is just the beginning...

Easter 2008

So I'm a bit slow getting these on. Easter seemed to come early this year. It was a bit cold for the Riverton Park Easter Egg hunt. i'm not sure why they call it a hunt since all the candy is in plain sight but...

It was a mad house. as you can see. The candy was collected in seconds. Nathan was lucky to get six or seven things. I saw many that didn't get anything.

But it was fun to get out and see what everyone was up to the day before Easter. We rode the golf car over and parked at Christy's work across the street.

When it was over Nathan went to some friends of our to decorate eggs. He had a lot of fun.

Contrast Riverton Parks Easter Egg Hunt with the one Nathan had after church Easter morning all by himself. He found 45 eggs hidden around our house and it was a bit more of a hunt. Then after our house we went to Grandma's where since he is the only grandchild he once again scored all the eggs.

Disneyland

So Sunday we found out BYU was going to play in the first round of the NCAA tournament in Anaheim and after mentioning it to Ryan's family we came up with a plan to make a quick trip to watch them play and go to Disneyland. Terri, Christy, Emily, Allison, Nathan and I drove the Suburban down. It took 10 hours exactly. Nathan was so good on the way down. He watched movies and played I spy and listened to his baseball songs on my ipod. He was funny singing what words he knows real loud. We stayed at the Doubletree a couple miles from Disneyland. Thursday morning we woke up and got ready for a full day. We ate at Denny's before going into Disneyland. Nathan was really good about riding in the stroller from ride to ride. The weather was beautiful mid 70's. We rode the rockets then headed over to see Sleeping Beauty's Castle. There we saw my uncle Rob and his two kids. Then we road the tea cups followed by the Storybook Boat ride. Next we were on our way to Toon Town where we got some ice cream and water and Nathan got to meet Mickey, ride the roller coaster and ride the Rodger Rabbit ride. We had fast passes to Autopia so we went there next. Nathan drove and I pushed the pedal. That was a bumpy ride. Next we went over to the Pirates of Caribbean. Nathan's baseball team is the Pirates so he was very excited to ride the Pirates ride. He was a little nervous and held my hand pretty tight at first but in the end he really liked it. We took a break from Disneyland and took Nathan, Allison and Christy back to the hotel to swim and we headed over to the Honda Area to watch BYU. When we got there it was pretty empty so we sat in the lower bowl about 15 rows up at center court. We watched the first half of the game in those $400 seats until we got kicked out and went and found our real seats. Too bad BYU played so bad. It was fun to watch UCLA almost get beat by Texas A&M as well though. We picked the rest of the gang up and went back to Disneyland. I had remembered being really cold last time in the evening so we came prepared. Nathan really wanted to ride the new Nemo submirine ride so he and I stayed in line for that while the others went on Indiana Jones. That line was great because Nathan was able to be in the stroller and actually fell asleep for almost the whole thing. When we got to the point where they take your stroller the family behind me told me they would hold our spot if I just waited with Nathan still asleep so I did. When they got in the front they waved us over so I didn't have to carry Nathan long at all. He woke up and really enjoyed Nemo so I'm glad we did it. We finished first so we went to find some dinner and watch the fireworks show. Nathan got his Mickey suckers and then we met up with the rest of our gang. We rode the jungle cruise and did some shopping before finding the tram back to our car. It was a fun and very full day. We all slept well that night. We awoke early Friday morning and headed home. Stopping in Las Vegas for In N Out of course. It was amazing I wasn't sick at all the whole trip. But the minute we got to our house nausea set in. I'm ready to go back.
